Project Description

Eco-labels provide consumers with essential information about the sustainability of products, including environmental, energy, and other labels. These labels enable consumers to make informed decisions and select products less harmful to the environment and their health. However, young people can misunderstand eco-labels due to the lack of information, highlighting the importance of educating them about eco-labels meaning and significance. The Eco-label project aims to motivate and educate young consumers on using eco-labels to promote environmentally friendly actions and contribute to preserving and protecting the environment. The ECO-LABEL project focuses on raising awareness of eco-labels among young European consumers and engaging them in initiatives to adopt sustainable behaviour. The project will provide reliable information on the environmental impacts of products on the market, increasing consumer confidence in energy-efficient household appliances. Through knowledge of eco-labels, consumers will develop confidence and positive attitudes towards the environment, building trust and promoting pro-environmental behaviour. The project will also provide general knowledge about the environment and eco-labels, encouraging young consumers to make informed choices when purchasing environmentally friendly products and services.

Project Impact

The ECO-LABEL project targets young consumers in three countries (Slovenia, Austria and Italy). Focusing the project on this target group will allow for a more tailored project and process, eventually leading to higher involvement in the activities and a higher impact (increased awareness, knowledge, and understanding of eco-labels). The target group of young people includes any individual who wants to become better acquainted with the labels they encounter daily. Although we are focusing on young people, there are no age, gender, educational or other restrictions in our project, as we firmly believe that the different experiences and backgrounds will enrich the learning process of the project for all participants and stimulate new ideas expose new information.

Project Outputs

The project is directly linked to the priorities of the environment and the fight against climate change. The project’s objectives align with the European Green Communication’s recognition of the role of educational institutions in making changes towards a climate-neutral environment. The project also supports the Council Recommendation on Learning for a Green Transition, which stresses the need for sustainability to become a part of education and training policies and programs. Through its awareness-raising campaign, the project aims to develop competencies in different green sectors by encouraging young people to change their shopping habits and engage in active participation for a sustainable future. The project also supports Erasmus+ in striving for carbon neutrality. The ECO-LABEL project is crucial in successfully transitioning to a climate-neutral environment by 2050.
